Wellness with Accountability

Wellness initiatives can take many forms. Health fairs, exercise classes, cholesterol screenings, educational workshops, blood pressure testings, smoking cessation programs, brown-bag lunch seminars, and more.

The missing element in most of these activities is accountability.

How do you know employees will actually change their behavior?

How do you know employees will actually achieve the desired/necessary results?

The Health Initiative Project presents a comprehensive wellness approach that educates, empowers, and motivates employees to improve their fitness levels and be more accountable for their health and wellbeing.

We accomplish this by focusing on aspects of health and fitness that are manageable and will be of interest to most of your employees.

Our state of the art program effectively addresses the following issues:
1. Weight Management and Body Shaping

Approximately two-thirds of the adult population are either overweight or obese and cost U.S. businesses an estimated $12.7 billion dollars. Studies of overweight and obese employees have shown that obese employees take more sick leave, are twice as likely to have high-level absenteeism, and pay as much as 77 percent more for medications compared to non-obese employees.
2. Diabetes, Insulin Resistance, and Metabolic Syndrome

People with diabetes cost the U.S. approximately $132 billion and account for 14 million disability days. The American Diabetes Association reports that per capita medical expenditures for individuals with diabetes totaled $13,243 compared to $2,560 for people without diabetes.

It is estimated that 47 million adults have a cluster of medical conditions referred to as the Metabolic Syndrome. This condition is characterized by:

* Insulin Resistance / High Insulin Values
* Obesity and Abdominal fat
* High Blood Pressure / Hypertension
* High Blood Triglycerides
* Low HDL-Cholesterol
* Increased Cardiovascular Disease Risk

3. Heart Disease and Hypertension

Heart disease and strokes cost the nation more than $300 billion per year. Cardiovascular disease ranks highest among all disease categories in hospital discharges, at an average cost of $7,883 per discharge. More importantly, the Centers for Disease control estimates 3 million Americans ages 35-64 who are currently free of coronary heart disease will develop the disease in the next ten years in the absence of intervention to reduce risk factors.

We also discuss how the right lifestyle choices can improve:

* Daily Energy Levels and Sugar Cravings
* Depression and ADD/HD Type Behaviors
* Smoking Cessation Efforts
* Impotence and EDS

Use our experience to make your wellness program accountable for the results your company needs.
